Operator Guidelines
Everything you need to know about licensing and operating as a tourism business in Zimbabwe
Application Process
- 1.Create an account on ZTDEP and select "Tourism Operator" as your role.
- 2.Apply for a licence using the multi-step wizard. Select your facility category and fill in all required details.
- 3.Upload required documents — company registration (CR6), bank statements, insurance certificates, facility plans, and any category-specific documents.
- 4.Pay the application fee online via Paynow/EcoCash or offline via bank transfer with proof of payment upload.
- 5.Document verification — a Registration Officer reviews your uploaded documents. You may be asked to correct or resubmit.
- 6.Inspection — an Inspection Manager assigns an inspector who visits your premises and files a digital report.
- 7.Manager verification — the Inspection Manager verifies the report and recommends approval or re-inspection.
- 8.Director approval — the Director reviews and issues your tourism licence with a unique Tourism ID.
Required Documents
- Company registration certificate (CR6)
- Bank statement / letter confirming capital
- Certificate of insurance (Section 23 compliance)
- Plan of tourist facility to scale
- Brochure or promotional material
- Surety bond (Section 11 compliance)
- Title deeds / lease agreements (where applicable)
- Professional hunter's licence (hunting operators only)
Licence Renewal
Licences are valid for 12 months from the date of approval. You will receive a reminder 30 days before expiry. To renew:
- Log in to your dashboard and select the operator to renew
- Pay the annual licence fee for your category
- Your licence expiry date will be extended by 365 days upon verification
Marketplace Listing
Once approved, you can list your business in the public marketplace so tourists can discover you. A marketplace listing fee applies and keeps your business visible for 365 days. Featured listings are also available for greater visibility.
Business Content Publishing
As a registered operator, you can publish news, blog posts, and events to promote your business. A content publishing fee applies per submission. Your content goes live after payment verification.
